Our Shop

fibre space is a full service knit and crochet shop that provides yarn, needles and notions as well as knit and crochet classes, parties and events. fibre space is a landing pad for busy professionals and families in the DC metro area who are seeking a creative outlet. Our shop space is bright, fresh and funky.

The shop is owned and operated by Danielle Romanetti, who can be found most days behind the counter with her Italian greyhounds, a laptop and a decaf latte. She takes pride in having scoped out the best fibres at the best possible prices for each category of yarn. If you aren’t sure why something is here, just ask us! We have a reason for each and every fibre in the shop. Here are the yarns we carry.

We are located at 102 N. Fayette Street in Alexandria, VA. (see map link in lower right) We have a dedicated classroom space, comfy lounge area for you to sit and stitch with us and big beautiful displays of yarn.  One of the unique features of our shop is our Ravelry workstation. No need to look for patterns on your phone!

Our history

the fibre space shop grew out of Knit-a-Gogo, Inc., which was opened in October of 2006 to provide knitting classes, parties and events at coffee shops and bakeries in the DC metro area. Danielle Romanetti was the sole teacher and operator of the business until 2008. In August of 2008, the business expanded to six additional teachers and three new locations. The Knit-a-Gogo following grew and eventually demanded a permanent home. In July 2009, Knit-a-Gogo expanded into fibre space, a new retail store space with a classroom and events space.
